In today's Irish Times, Gerry Thornley reports that Sean O'Brien in close to a move to Toulon. The same writer also brought us news on Monday that Jamie Heaslip's agents would be meeting with the same side this week.
Thornley says that O'Brien's agent's talks with the IRFU have now "reached an impasse" and barring any last minute changes that the backrow will join the French club.
It seems that the IRFU just can't compete with the deep pockets of the Top 14 teams. The LNR, the body when represents the French clubs, have announced a new TV deal worth €70 million a season.
He also has the line that both O'Brien and Heaslip would like to remain with Leinster but it would appear that the possibility of earning more than €500,000 a season is too much to ignore.
