It appears as though Ronan O'Gara may be on his way back to European rugby. The former Munster fly half has been in New Zealand since the start of 2018, where he acted as an assistant coach with Crusaders.
Crusaders won a second consecutive Super Rugby title last year, with O'Gara experiencing success in his debut season. With the 2019 campaign set to conclude in the coming weeks, he could now return to the country where he began his coaching career.
Midi Olympique are reporting that O'Gara has agreed to join the coaching staff at La Rochelle, and is set to sign a three-year deal. The Irishman is set to place backs coach Xavier Garbajosa, who will leave at the end of the season.
Former club Racing 92 were also rumoured to be interested in bringing him back on board, but it appears Ireland's record point scorer has opted for a move to to south-western France instead.
