With Peter Stringer, it has become mandatory to preface his name with his age.

Therefore, the 40-year-old Stringer has seen Worcester Warriors in the Aviva Premiership fail to renew his short-term contract. He has returned to Ireland.

Having signed a short-term deal in the summer, Stringer has struggled for game time at the club, failing to dislodge Francois Hougaard from scrum-half. He's made just six appearances all season, with five of them as a substitute.

Alan Solomons is the Director of Rugby at the club, and he confirmed the news to WorcesterNews.co.uk that Stringer has left the building.

Peter has returned to Ireland.

He hasn’t played for the side during my time here but he is very professional, trains hard and is a first-class guy. He has been good to have around the squad.

He has also had a great career, playing in some great Ireland teams and great Munster teams and has played well over in England as well.

Whether this resembles the end of Stringer's career is unclear. You wouldn't bet against him squeezing another few months out of a fantastic career, however.
