Paul O'Connell is expected make his final appearance for Munster in the PRO12 final against Glasgow this weekend.
O'Connell told Sky Sports on Saturday that the victory against Ospreys was likely his final game in a Munster jersey at Thomond Park.
His future beyond the PRO12 final is uncertain. He maybe retire after the World Cup and go into coaching. He may move abroad.
Speaking on Newstalk's Off the Ball on Wednesday evening, Keith Wood fuelled rumours that O'Connell could move to Toulon. The former Ireland captain said O'Connell loves the south of France culture and was somewhat jealous of Jonny Wilkinson's time at the Top 14 giants.
He's a guy who loves the south of France, he got married in the south of France. He enjoys it as a place, he enjoys the culture.
I know he is envious of the time that Jonny Wilkinson spent there, in terms of what Jonny got out of it. And it's not in terms of the finances. Of course the finances are always part of it, but it was almost like the fresh breath of energy and life he got back into it.
The character of the like of Paul O'Connell which doesn't come around it too often if we're to be honest, has an opportunity to continue doing the game he loves with a lot less pressure on him. I know it's a big pressure none the less as it's a huge team, but a different type of pressure.
An ideal situation for him would be to be your captain end out every game. He could be there for 30 minutes of every single game if he so wanted. Knowing Paul he'd want to play in 80 minutes in every game, but they don't do that in France. That's an intriguing idea of what could be done.
