Paul O'Connell is back dominating the Limerick skyline and we think it's only right that the City Council start considering submissions to leave him there permanently.
This was the week that the curtain came down on one of Ireland's truly great sporting careers. The way it ended was not what anyone wanted but the response has been fitting for a man who gave so much to the cause. Be it in the red of Munster or the green of Ireland, there's not a man, woman or child on this island who could accuse Paul O'Connell of giving anything but 100% and although we may have tried, it's impossible to fully honour his impact on Irish rugby over the past two decades.
But at least in his home city their giving it a decent attempt. To be fair, we can't say for certain that it's the biggest banner in Ireland but this colossus that Limerick Council have taken out of storage and hoisted up in the centre of the city is certainly a fitting tribute to a man of O'Connell's stature and standing.

The banner had initially been put up following his departure from Munster back in July but the city and county councils have taken the decision to put it back up above Brown Thomas in the city centre and we can only commend them for that decision. Now who wants to start a petition to ensure it stays there permanently?
Thanks to Evan Quinlivan and Declan Foley for sending us in their pictures.
