England captain Owen Farrell was sent off for a high tackle as Saracens fell to a surprise defeat against Wasps at Allianz Park.

The Sarries skipper caught Wasps' Charlie Atkinson in the face with his left shoulder in the 61st minute, with the match poised at 15-15.

As you can see below, Farrell's swinging arm catches Atkinson and he deservedly saw the red card moments later.

Atkinson was forced off the pitch due to the head injury he suffered in the tackle, having stayed down receiving treatment for a lengthy period.

Exactly two weeks from today, Saracens face Leinster in the Champions Cup quarter-final and the red card will put Farrell's availability in doubt.

It's going to be very interesting to see what ban he gets.
