Peter Stringer's longevity really is exceptional.
The former Munster scrum-half signed a new deal with Sale Sharks last week which will make him 39 when it expires next year.
Stringer joined Sale less than a year ago following 18 months with Bath.
Stringer is almost universally loved as a player. It's tough not to admire his tenacity and durability. Who would have thought that three years after leaving Thomond Park, he'd still be playing professional rugby?
Amongst the many admirers of Stringer's ability to endure at the top level is referee Nigel Owens.
@stringer9 @SaleSharksRugby your just like wine . you get better with age lol
well done.— Nigel Owens (@Nigelrefowens) February 29, 2016
Stringer is looking forward to again getting the opportunity to attempt to influence Owens on the pitch.
