Welsh Rugby Referee Nigel Owens is to receive Honorary Life Membership of the UCD Law Society next week.
According to the Law Scoiety they're awarding the honour to the "man who is internationally known as the greatest rugby referee of all time" not for his performances as a ref but;
it is the man away from the pitch who we want to honour. Nigel Owen's (sic) life has been a rollercoaster ride. He struggled coming to terms with his sexuality and ended a lot of things during this period - one of which nearly resulted in his life. After bouncing back, he strived to help others with similar problems.
Owens reacted on twitter;

Last year saw Owens received publicity for his retort of "This is not soccer!" when addressing a Treviso player.
