Leinster endured a torrid start in Lyon against Clermont: they were 15-0 down after as many minutes: two tries either side of a Morgan Parra penalty, which carried the enduring damage of a yellow card to Isa Nacewa. Once Nacewa returned, Leinster steadied the ship somewhat, with the final five minutes of the half critical in keeping the tie alive at half-time.
Morgan Parra missed a very kickable penalty, minutes before Leinster finally went through a few phases and drew a penalty, which Sexton slotted. 18-0 instead read 15-3.
That Parra missed was unsurprising somewhat, given that he didn't really fancy it beforehand. He tried to sneakily steal a few yards toward the goal while he thought Nigel Owens wasn't watching, but his plans were foiled when the Welsh referee spotted it, and was having none of it.
