During the week, Dan Carter said that in his career with the All Blacks, he never wanted to be part of the first team to lose a test match to Ireland.
Though his international career is over, there was still somberness on his face in a picture he tweeted immediately after Ireland's first win in 29 matches against the All Blacks. Also, watching the game sitting next to a glowing Ronan O'Gara could not have helped.
Congratulations Ireland. A long time coming but deserved the win tonight. Someone's happy & it's not me @RonanOGara10 pic.twitter.com/iStgCExAGn

Elsewhere in New Zealand, some have taken the loss a little badly.
My father-in-law in Queenstown clearly gutted after Ireland beat the @AllBlacks #IREvNZL pic.twitter.com/ld1BQe0LFo

There was also plenty of love from the Kiwis for that Ireland win.
Props to Joe Schmidt. He'll enjoy this. ABs injury ravaged but take nothing away. If it was going to be anyone, glad it was Ireland.

Surely it's a public holiday tomorrow in Ireland

I generally hate it when the @AllBlacks lose. So why am I smiling? Just so loved the way Ireland played. #NZLvIRE

This is extraordinary. We were zombies in the first 40 - and Ireland were superb! Now, it's on! May the best team win, but GO THE AB's!

Stunning. Well played Ireland. Great heart, great spirit, great rugby. What a superb game.

One of the best games in recent times

This is test rugby at its best. ABs pressing for the comeback victory. Ireland trying to hold on. Fabulous stuff in Chicago.
