It was 2014 when a lowly French club changed their name to James Coughlan's Pau. The former Munster stalwart was later joined by fellow ex-Munster backrows Sean Dougall and Paddy Butler. Together this season, the trio have been dominant. Paddy Butler in particular has shown and has lead the team in appearances this season.
But their ownership of the Pau backrow is under threat after the French team announced seven new signings for next season - including three new backrows:
Ben Mowen is a quality Australian international No. 8, Pierrick Gunther is a Champions Cup winner with Toulon, and Ibrahim Diarra is a French international flanker who is coming over from Castres.
With Coughlan turning 36 in December, and Dougall's spot also under threat - we could be looking at a name change in the club on the south of France.
