Munster welcomed Scarlets to Thomond Park on Saturday evening and the RTÉ commentary team were left surprised by one of the members of the visitors' coaching team.

With several of Munster's big hitters on Ireland duty for the Six Nations, it was a shaken up side fielded by interim head coach Ian Costello in Limerick.

A scrappy affair was to play out in the opening stages, with little in the way of free-flowing rugby and several stoppages for TMO checks and injury treatment.

It was during one of those physio appearances that Donal Lenihan and Hugh Cahill were left stunned after realising that the Scarlets physio was the twin brother of former Wales captain Sam Warburton.

Sam Warburton's twin brother appears at Munster v Scarlets

With just eight minutes gone in Thomond Park, treatment was required for players on both sides.

Munster's Jack O'Donoghue went down with a knock, while Scarlets tighthead prop Archer Holz was down on the other side of the visitors' 22.

As the camera panned to Holz receiving treatment, RTÉ commentators Hugh Cahill and Donal Lenihan could not believe the resemblance of the Scarlets physio to Wales legend Sam Warburton.

Hugh Cahill: "Is that Sam Warburton there?"

Donal Lenihan: "It looks like him, doesn't it?!"

Cahill: "It's not him but it looks like him...it is him!"

Lenihan: "No, it's not Sam Warburton."

Cahill: "It looks like him though, doesn't it?"

Lenihan: "It's unbelievable yeah..."

Cahill: "His stunt double! He was commentating last week in Murrayfield where we were."

Lenihan: "He was a very good 7, to be fair to him, but he can't be in two places at once."

Cahill: "The absolute head of him, though."

A word from the producers in Cahill's ear revealed the physio's idenity.

Cahill: "It's his brother! It's his twin brother!"

Lenihan: "You're joking me?"

Ben Warburton is the older twin of two-time Lions captain Sam and is Scarlets' full-time physio.

Like his brother, Ben Warburton was previously a rugby player, lining out at semi-professional level for Glamorgan Wanderers. He also previously worked as a physio for his brother's former club Cardiff Blues.

Munster went in at half-time 7-3 up, with most of the excitement on the RTÉ coverage coming from the surprise appearance of a Wales' legend's doppelganger.
