Munster fans have been left excited by the news that Felix Jones is now free to take up a club job.
It was announced on Friday afternoon by the RFU that the former Ireland international has left his role with England and is now free to take up a job with a club or a tier two international side.
Jones' however will not be allowed to take up any role with Ireland for a six-month period under the terms of his release.
The 37-year-old confirmed his decision to leave England during the summer having only joined the coaching ticket after last year's Rugby World Cup in a move which shocked Head Coach Steve Borthwick.
Jones' was officially an analyst during the Autumn International series although the players said they had no contact with him.
The RFU issued a short statement confirming the news:
“The RFU can confirm that England Rugby men’s assistant coach Felix Jones will step down from his role on Friday 13 December.
“The terms of his departure prevent Jones from working with any Tier One team until Tuesday 1 April 2025. During this period, he is permitted to work with any club or any Tier Two international team and below, should he choose to do so.”
Felix Jones linked with various roles
While Mike Prendergast remains favourite for the vacant Munster head coach role, Jones has been repeatedly linked with the position and has built a solid reputation as a coach since he was forced to retire through injury.
Jones has also been linked to a coaching role with Andy Farrell's Lions side but the IRFU will be eager to find a role for him that could potentially attract him home.
Wales and South Africa are also reported to be interested and the rugby world will certainly be keeping a close eye on the Dubliners next steps.
