These sides first met in 1905 when the All Blacks made the trip to Limerick, with the most recent encounter coming against the All Blacks Maori in 2016.

On that occasion it was Munster who came out victorious, beating the All Blacks 27-14 in front of over 25,000 fans. With the All-Black's now famous tribute to Axel Foley adding to what was already a momentous occasion in the province.

While some of New Zealand's names for the upcoming tour may be lesser known quantities, the last fixture saw now Ireland and Leinster star James Lowe line out for the Maori All Blacks in a time before he was one of Leinster's most prolific players.
