Ireland took the lead after 15 minutes against France.
It came from a penalty following a late, cynical hit on Johnny Sexton by French second row Yoann Maestri.
On commentary for the BBC, Brian Moore labelled it a 'cheap shot'. Referee Jaco Peyper, who clearly saw the incident, immediately put his arm out for advantage to Ireland, though he adjudged it to be only a penalty rather than a yellow card.
Judge for yourself below.
Reaction from Irish viewers online was unanimous.
Not a Courtney Lawes "borderline" late hit; Maestri just ran by Sexton and clocked him.
I'm not sure how the ref doesn't check that.

How ref gives penalty for deliberate late assault on sexton and yet not a yellow card? #IREvFRA

Interesting that the TMO can spot minor infringement and not a cheap shot on Sexton #IREvFRA #RBS6Nations
