A couple of weeks ago, we heard about the remarkable rise to the top for Sevilla striker Carlos Bacca. After a starring turn in the Spanish side's second consecutive Europa League triumph the 28 year old Colombian was widely linked with everyone who needed a striker.
Liverpool and Man United were the two such clubs who were linked with Bacca. However, it now looks unlikely that he'll be heading to the Premier League and it's all because there's no Pope in England.
Bacca is instead edging towards a move to Roma and his agent confirmed that a large part pf his decision was as a result of being able to pop round to the Vatican and see the Pope on a regular basis. Speaking to Corriere dello Sport, his agent, Sergio Barila, outlined exactly what Rome could offer that no where else could.
Carlos is deeply religious. And in Rome, there is the Pope. And apart from that we are talking about one of the best clubs.
It certainly makes a change from players choosing where to go based purely on the money on offer.
