The Lions head south to a winter furnace today: a ten-game tour of New Zealand that begins with a game against the Provincial Barbarians on June 3rd. The squad land in Auckland on Wednesday, and will then travel to Whangarei for the opening game on Friday. Indicative of their lack of preparation, the squad don't have enough time to sit through a presentation by a World Rugby referee to explain the law changes in effect for the tour: instead it will be learned via a video.
The entire squad attended a farewell dinner last night at The Roadhouse in London, and they left on a song: the Fields of Athenry.
Part of the communal effort in building squad unity is the learning of various songs, and it's evidently worked pretty well:
