Life after Johnathan Sexton has began at Leinster as they today announced the signing of New Zealend born fly half, Jimmy Gopperth.
Gopperth who currently plays for Championship runaway leaders, Newcastle Falcons has signed on a two-year deal. Leisnter have just released an official statement regarding the announcement.
Commenting on the move, Leinster Head Coach Joe Schmidt said: “We are delighted that Jimmy has put pen to paper on a deal and we believe that he will be an excellent foil for Ian Madigan, bringing added depth and experience to the out-half position when he joins this summer.
"Even though Newcastle have struggled in recent years, he has been a hugely consistent performer during his time in England where he won back-to-back Premiership Golden Boot awards."
Gopperth was the top points scorer in the Aviva Premiership two years in a row back in 2009-10 (219 points) and 2010-11 (230 points) and will provide Ian Madigan with competition for the number 10 shirt at Leinster.
