Leinster have certainly confirmed their favourites tag for this year's Champions Cup, after yesterday's 16-9 win away to reigning champions La Rochelle.

With their recruitment likely done for the season, they will be hoping the arrival of World Cup winning head coach Jacques Nienaber will be enough to see them to a fifth trophy in the competition.

Looking to next season, however, they will be eyeing up potential signings to bolster their squad, with second row being an area they may look to add to.

RG Snyman To Leinster ?

Speaking with RugbyPass recently, former Wales captain Sam Warburton suggested current Munster lock RG Snyman as a player Leinster should be chasing.

Someone like an RG Snyman, who looks like he could be going to Bath, that would be an amazing recruitment for someone like Leinster just to add someone of that ilk into their pack.

We’ll see. For the Leinster fans’ sake, you don’t want to be detrimental to the development of young players but you feel a couple of bolstering players in that pack would be what they need.

Your [Will] Skeltons, your RG Snymans, that kind of player just to stick in your front five to get you over the finish line.

Warburton's last line, on front five players to get you 'over the line', evokes fond memories of Brad Thorn, who signed for Leinster in late 2012.

Although he only featured in a handful of games, the World Cup winning All Black was instrumental in helping Leinster to a narrow win over Clermont Auvergne in the semi-final that year.

While RG Snyman has had devastating injury luck for Munster, most fans would argue that the money spent on him has been worth it, given his role in the latter stages of Munster's URC winning run last season.

Although it is has been rumoured that he is on his way to Bath, the presence of his countryman Nienaber could entice the giant lock out East.
