It was compared to 'the Munster of old', but rarely if ever have the southern province been quite so dominant against visiting English opposition.
It would appear Rassie Erasmus' side's 38-zip thrashing of the Leicester Tigers at Thomond Park has caused quite the ripple at Welford Road.
Rugby journalist Sam Peters writes in The Daily Mail that Tigers Director of Rugby Richard Cockerill's future at the Premiership side now 'hangs by a thread', and suggests that the former England international has been given just Saturday's return leg to rectify what happened in Limerick, and his team's sluggish start to the season overall.
Peters reports that The former Leicester and England hooker, who took the DOR position in 2010 after spells as the club's forwards coach, met chairman Peter Tom last month and was given until Christmas to turn the club's fortunes around. Naturally, a beating from hell against old European foes Munster wasn't quite the sherry Tom would have been looking for as his club approaches the Christmas period.
The Tigers lie fourth in the Premiership and third in Pool 1 of the Champions Cup, having lost lost two of their opening three European fixtures without picking up so much as a bonus point.
Cockerill came under immediate pressure following Leicester's harrowing 42-13 defeat at Glasgow in October, but looked to have steadied the ship with a series of domestic victories, that is until his side arrived at Thomond.
While you obviously don't want to see anyone lose their job - particularly so close to Christmas - the uncertainty surrounding Cockerill's future, along with Peters' reports of further unrest at the club, will no doubt play to Munster's favour in current form.
Nonetheless, a tricky trip to Welford Road awaits, with kick-off at 3:15pm this Saturday. The game will be broadcast on BT Sport.
