When discussing the great number eights to ever grace the game, Lawrence Dallaglio is a name that deserve a mention. And the man himself believes that Leinster star Caelan Doris has the talent and ability to be mentioned among the best f all-time.
Speaking on BT Sport with Brian O'Driscoll, after Leinster's Champions Cup thrashing of Gloucester, the two men waxed lyrical about Doris' rounded game.
Caelan Doris has been on the radar for quite some time. He's been improving steadily and obviously a bit of a setback with the head injury which probably pushed him out of the Lions contention, but I think he is a payer that will keep on developing.
Some of the handling that he showed, some of the assists, three assists in the game. He's got the carrying ability. He doesn't run with his head down like I used to. He looks for players and offloads all over the field.
The Sky Is The Limit For Caelan Doris
"He's going to be one of @IrishRugby's best players. His ceiling is infinite."

The most telling comment from Dallaglio came when he compared Doris to arguably the greatest number eight of all-time - former All Black Kieran Read - who had one of the most complete skillsets of any player in the history of the sport.
"I don't want to big him up too much, there are a lot of, there are a lot of very good number eights. He's 24 years of age, but on the evidence of what we've seen, with his career ahead of him, he's got the potential to join the likes of Kieran Read and some of the real greats. "
