In case you didn't know, Julian Savea is a phenomenon. The second-coming of Jonah Lomu has the power to truck through defenders, the skill and hands to release other players and the intelligence to make the most of his talent.
The 25-year-old has dazzled in his first World Cup, and something curious has happened for each of his eight tries in the tournament. If you had been listening hard enough, you would have heard the sound of Mourad Boudjellal's wallet opening. The Toulon owner is already bringing in the likes of Ma'a Nonu to join Drew Mitchell and Matt Giteau who will be playing in the World Cup final this Saturday.
According to Midi Olympique, having been rebuffed in his approach for Wallaby Israel Folau, Boujdellal has set his sights on securing the services of the World Cup's top try scorer. Midi reports that Toulon are looking to sign Savea on a short six-month deal so that he can return to New Zealand in time for the 2016 international season:
Because Toulon aren't scary enough. Should the three-time European champions manage to secure the services of one of the best players in the world, there XV would reach Harlem Globetrotters levels of ridiculousness:
15. Leigh Halfpenny
14. Drew Mitchell
13. Ma'a Nonu
12. Matt Giteau
11. Julian Savea
10. Tom Taylor
9. Sebastien Tillous-Borde
1. Xavier Chiocci
2. Guilhem Guirado
3. Salesi Ma'afu
4. Samu Manoa
5. Romain Taofifenua
6. Juan Martin Fernandez Lobbe
7. Steffon Armitage
8. Duane Vermuelen
And that's without the likes of long term injury victim Paul O'Connell, Georgia's Mamuka Gorgodze, Bryan Habana, Mathieu Bastareaud, and Springbok Juan Smith.
