Sean Cronin was named Man of the Match by TG4 in Leinster's win against Connacht on New Year's Day. The hooker had some eye-catching moments as his side just got over the line at the RDS in a 21-18 victory.
Connacht held siege to the Leinster line in the final minutes with the clock deep into the red. That final push included a 28-phase attack, one which undoubtedly added to some phenomenal tackling numbers by Leinster.
Looking down through the Leinster stats from the game, there are some standouts. Number eight Max Deegan, who also touched down for the first try of the game, made 26 tackles. Second row Ross Molony made with one more with 27.
Usually, those numbers would be head and shoulders above anyone else in a game. Not on Monday. Josh van der Flier made an incredible 34 tackles.
That's a Pro14 record. Remarkably for someone who attempted so many tackles, he also missed none.
💪This is @joshvdf making one of his 34 tackles v @connachtrugby
🔒34 tackles is a @PRO14Official record since @OptaJonny began tracking those stats in 2010.
🎯 Oh, and he didn't miss any either! #GUINNESSPRO14 #LEIvCON pic.twitter.com/dBPF3Heg3s— United Rugby Championship (URC) (@URCOfficial) January 2, 2018
