"He even shut Drico down a few times which was enjoyable," said Fergus McFadden of Joe Schmidt's time in charge at Leinster.
Speaking on Independent.ie's The Left Wing podcast, Luke Fitzgerald then went on to detail a specific time Schmidt had been critical of Brian O'Driscoll.
Early in his time as Leinster head coach in 2010, players were taking part in one of Schmidt's video review sessions.
"About four or five games in, we were playing Cardiff I think it was. It wasn't a defensive scenario but it was in attack. Someone threw Drico an absolute daisy-cutter of a pass. Drico drops it; it was a slippy day and it was a really hard one to take," said Fitzgerald.
Fitzgerald said the Leinster squad was still finding its feet under Schmidt at the time. Though, they already viewed him as a firm coach who ran high quality training sessions.
After making a few comments in the review session, O'Driscoll then became the focus of it. Fitzgerald said that there was a moment of disbelief in the room following Schmidt's critical comment.
Then it comes to this clip, Joe has picked out this clip with Drico dropping a pass. He just - to the group - flippantly says, 'Yeah, Drico, good players take those' and stopped and turned back to the footage.
The whole room, there was a collective gasp and it was like, 'Jesus, who is this guy?' It was a great way to set out his stall. Whether it was pre-planned or not, I don't think it was because Drico was like 'Jesus, that hasn't happened to me in ten years!'.
Fitzgerald added that four of Schmidt's words 'good players take those' became a saying for the Leinster squad. McFadden said that he believed Schmidt had done it to make a point - 'everyone is equal in this room.'
