If you missed Off the Ball's roadshow last night you should really have a listen back to it. During the rugby part of their programme, Irish Times journalist Gerry Thornley came out with a great anecdote about the aftermath of Saturday's win over South Africa – although we're not sure if he was joking or not.
After Brian O'Driscoll revealed that Ireland had often practiced the move which led to Tommy Bowe's try, Thornley told the crowd what Schmidt is supposed to have said, presumably half in jest:
Did you hear what Joe said to Conor Murray, apparently, afterwards in the dressing room?
He said 'That kick's meant to land in Tommy's hands, it's not meant to bounce.'
First off, I'm not fully sure if Thornley was joking or not and secondly, if he was being serious that still doesn't mean Schmidt he definitely said it. I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if he did though. The man's a perfectionist!
