Jarryd Hayne is a man of many talents, having excelled at rugby league and rugby sevens, along with American football. With such an array of talents, you may be tempted to ask, is there any limit to his talents? Is there anything he can't do?
And we now know the boundary to which his talents extend: the delivery of online safety talks to school children.
Hayne spoke to 200-plus students at an Australian High School on the topic of internet safety, in conjunction with Norton, whom many of you may be familiar with.
As part of the talk, Hayne was scrolling through his internet history on his phone, and had it projected to a bigger screen. (It wasn't wiped, so you know he's been well-behaved).
His history consisted mostly of sports photos, but, while going through it, a pornographic site was displayed on screen.
Hayne's co-host from Norton, Nick Savvides, said that it wasn't his fault:
It's unfortunate and all I can say, it definitely was not Jarryd's device.
The purpose of the demonstration was to highlight the dangers of joining public WiFi networks, where middle men can seize data and view activity on phones and laptops without the user's knowledge. The reason behind Hayne's mishap is believed to be this danger of public WiFi: somebody connected to the network and had their activity projected in front of the crowd.
Hayne was embarrassed, naturally. When asked if it was awkward, he replied:
It was. I shut my phone straight away so that I was logged off. Wow.
Hayne and Norton had been delivering talks across a number of schools in Australia, and nothing like this had happened before.
