I am not a fan of the new-fangled trend of mic'ing up a player during a game. Unless their name is Willie Mason, it's not very interesting - and players that have been chosen seem to be too aware and media savvy to want to say anything interesting.
CJ Stander was better last week, and this week brought about Jared Payne. The intelligent New Zealander has long been talked about as a great communicator in-game for defensive reasons - so perhaps this would be good.
And it was. Payne made one-try saving tackle, and his ferocious reaction to Ulster being awarded a last minute penalty means that the player mic project isn't totally wasted. More of this please:
