This is a man who looks to do his business quickly. Ayumu Goromaru had a spectacular World Cup last autumn, playing a massive part in Japan's shock win over South Africa and their subsequent victories over USA and Samoa.
Goromaru's performances at fullback were so strong that he made the team of the tournament at 15 ahead of Israel Folau and Ben Smith, and off the back of that accolade he was able to secure a lucrative Super Rugby contract with the Queensland Reds.
Goromaru made his debut in a friendly against the Brumbies this week, and showed glimpses of why he was so sought after. There has been a lot of fanfare about his arrival too, although judging by reports in France today Reds supporters won't get to enjoy the Japanese international for very long.
Canal+ is reporting that Goromaru will join Mourad Boudjellal's Toulon side after the upcoming Super Rugby campaign in time for the 2016/17 season. With Paul O'Connell retiring, the Toulon owner had a bit more money to throw around and he used it wisely, although given they already have Leigh Halfpenny and Delon Armitage on the books there will be a lengthy queue for playing time.
Still, it will be exciting to have a player of Goromaru's stature in the northern hemisphere next year.
