A great week for Ireland rugby player Jamie Heaslip just got a little better. The Leinster number eight can forget about today's hangover jet lag with the news that he has been nominated for World Player of The Year.
Now one of the elder statesmen in the squad, news of the nomination will surely help cure the aches and pains after such a hard hitting encounter against the All Blacks in Soldier Field Saturday evening.
It could be a busy awards session for Heaslip after his ridiculous try for Ireland against Italy in the Six Nations was also nominated for World Rugby Try of the Year.
Heaslip is in good company for the player of the year award with Beauden Barrett (New Zealand), Dane Coles (New Zealand), Owen Farrell (England) Maro Itoje (England) and Billy Vunipola (England) also on the list.
Heaslip was nominated for the award back in 2009, and should he win, he'll be the first Irishman to win the award since Keith Wood, who won it in 2001.
UPDATE
Jamie Heaslip has since tweeted:
