Ronan O'Gara's dispatch from France brings some intriguing speculation for Munster fans.
When announcing the extension of Anthony Foley's contract as head coach (much to the chagrin of many Munster fans) the province also confirmed that it would be appointing a director of rugby beginning the 2016/17 season.
That Munster were changing their model and creating the role had initially been reported by The42.ie back in February.
Numerous names have since been linked, such as Canterbury Crusaders head coach Todd Blackadder, Conor O'Shea, Tony McGahan and Paul O'Connell.
Speculation regarding O'Shea was despite it being rugby's worst kept secret that he would succeed Jacques Brunel as Italy coach. That move for the Harlequins director of rugby has since been confirmed.
Writing in his Irish Examiner column on Friday, O'Gara threw another name into the mix - Jake White.
ROG - who is the Racing Metro defence coach - was speaking to the South African before his side's game against Montpellier last Saturday. It was a game in which O'Gara's side shipped 60 points.
White won a World Cup with South Africa in 2007 and is currently head coach of Montpellier.
I had an interesting few minutes before the Montpellier game with Jake White, who started seven of his Springbok compatriots against us. It didn't take long for him to ask what was the story with the Munster Director of Rugby position, and who did I think were the leading contenders. No more was said. We both smiled. Is he interested?
One way to find out.
