Following the conclusion of the 2022/23 season, Andy Farrell has named his 42-man World Cup training squad.

The group will convene on June 18th for their 2023 World Cup prep, before taking on Italy, England, and Samoa in their August warm-up fixtures.

Farrell will then name his official squad of 33 players on August 28th, before their World Cup begins on September 9th against Romania.

As is always the case with big squad announcements, there will be many bitterly disappointed players who have missed out, while fans of each of the provinces will be unhappy that their 'favourite guys' didn't make it.

Munster supporters may be particularly aggrieved, given their recent form, with the likes of Jeremy Loughman, Jean Kleyn, John Hodnett, Joey Carbery, and Mike Haley missing out.

Ulster's Robert Baloucoune and Nick Timoney are unlucky not to have made it, while Leinster's Jordan Larmour and Ross Molony can also feel hard done by.

The majority of the squad was likely decided months ago and there are no truly surprising inclusions, although the uncapped Jamie Osborne, Calvin Nash, and Tom Stewart have been included.

The break down of the squad is as follows: 21 Leinster, 9 Munster, 7 Ulster, 5 Connacht.
