Believe it or not, Ireland will play their World Cup warm up this Saturday at the Aviva against Italy. This morning the IRFU have published the Ireland squad for this match and revealed that Connacht second row Ultan Dillane and Munster back Rory Scannell of Munster have returned to their respective provinces, which means it will be highly unlikely either will be travelling to Japan outside of injury.
The news will be particularly disappointing for Dillane, who might have hoped he could force his way into Joe Schmidt's reckoning. However, second row remains one of Ireland's deepest positions.
