Ireland defeated a poorly performing Fijian team 35-17 after overcoming a lacklustre start in their Autumn Nations Series test. Ireland gained a foothold in the game by punishing Fiji for their lack of discipline by kicking to the corners and using their technically superior Lineout and maul to punish Fiji. Andy Farrell will be pleased with the win but disappointed that Ireland could have been more effective in the second half against 14 men. A look at how we rate the Ireland player’s performance: here's our Ireland player ratings.

Ireland Player Ratings

15 Jimmy O’Brien - 6

Looked lively on the ball but like his teammates struggled to get on the ball as much as he wanted too.

14 Robert Baloucoune - 6

The right winger turned in yet another quiet display. His game's work rate was substandard for much of the game. Went over to score Ireland's third touchdown of the opening half.

13 Robbie Henshaw – N/A

Only lasted 4mins of match intensity – off with a hamstring injury.

12 Stuart McCloskey - 8

Was a handful for the Fiji defence, some really good combinations with Carbery. Was a key part to Ireland’s phase attack.

11 Mack Hansen - 6

His work rate in Ireland's attack is exceptional, as he works nonstop off the wing. Won't want to observe some of his defensive efforts. Got over for the a try for in the second half.

10 Joey Carbery - 6

Another inconsistent outing in a green jersey, as he displayed some fine touches and control but also at times became overly lateral in attack. His defence is still a concern at this level. Had a great afternoon off the tee, as his place-kicking performance was excellent (3/3).

9 Jamison Gibson Park -7

Will be happy with his 50 minute workout. Directed Ireland’s attack well with some smart kicking and accurate passing.

1 Jeremy Loughman - 7

Has certainly put his hand up to Andy Farrell with his 60 minutes. Showed up well in Ireland’s attack with some nice tip passes.

2 Rob Herring - 6

Showed good defensive effort and passing ability off Lineout attack, but he still doesn't have the same meaningful impact on the game as Ireland's top two hookers.

3 Tadhg Furlong (Capt.)  - 6

Will savour his Sunday roast dinner and mashed potatoes as he achieved his maiden victory as Ireland captain after playing for 50 minutes. Despite not having much of an impact on the game, his leadership decisions were solid.

4 Kieran Treadwell- 7

Loads of energy in attack by persistently putting himself out there to put in some tough work. It was unfortunate not to cross across for a try during the game's first period. With 10 carries and most added with real  impacted.

5 Tadhg Beirne – 7

Is there a better lock at winning penalties? Outstanding. Dominated the lineout battle. Needs to cut down the penalties that his Ireland team is now mounting up in Lineout defence

6 Caelan Doris - 8

He simply continues giving excellent performances, and the Leinster backrower just put on another incredible physical display. Got a lot of work done in 60 minutes, making 8 tackles and carrying the ball 11 times.

7 Nick Timoney - 7

A solid performance in his 3rd cap. Got over for Ireland’s first  try with an explosive carry. Got through a mountain of work in defence with 12 tackles.

8 Jack Conan - 7

Ireland’s top ball carrier with 12 carries. Found himself out wide in  Ireland’s attack shape as they struggled to find him.

Ireland player ratings - Replacements

Dan Sheehan - 6

8 minute cameo with 2 impact carries.

Cian Healy - 6

Powered over for a score in his 120th cap. Just gave stability to Ireland when they needed it.

Tom O’Toole - 6

Worked hard in his 30 minutes on the pitch. Didn’t do enough to get himself back into the main 23.

Cian Prendergast - 6

Delighted with his 1st cap but made some silly mistakes that he’ll be disappointed with.

Max Deegan - 6

Carried well and with impact. Looked hungry to show Andy Farrell what he can offer.

Craig Casey - 7

Good energy as always. Good pass for Hansen’s try in the 2nd half. Some clever kicking to add to his lightning passing.

Jack Crowley -7

On early in the 2nd half for his first, of probably many caps and got his first points converting Hansen’s try. Will give Farrell (& Carbery) something to think about with a late run to be Sexton’s backup.

Garry Ringrose - 6

Brought a calmness to  Ireland in attack and defence. His decision making was outstanding again.

Coach – 6

This performance will give him a chance to determine where some of his backup guys are and be a mixed bag for him. Will be disappointed with the lacklustre performance against primarily 14 players in the second half.
