The majority of the country had jumped their seats. We were celebrating then we looked back to the TV and for some fecking reason they were still playing. It didn't make sense, Nigel Owens had blown for the penalty, France were twenty points behind, why didn't they knock the ball out and take their glorious defeat.
The nation screamed as one. The tension was unbearable in pubs and sitting rooms over here but multiply that tension by a factor of thousands for the fans who had shuffled back into Murrayfield in the expectation that they would be able to celebrate with the Irish heroes.
When Yoann Huget decided to play the ball it looked like it would all come crumbling down. We now know it didn't but this footage from inside Murrayfield shows just how much stress was circling around the stadium during those few seconds that seemed like a lifetime.
Thanks a million to Mark Fearon for sending in the great footage.
