Gordon D'Arcy, unlike most Irish players, has a very good record when playing in Twickenham. He played in both matches when Ireland won in the ground two times in a row in 2004 and 2006, being involved in another great win in 2010.
One of the sweetest victories without doubt has to be in 2006. In a very tight game, Shane Horgan scored a try with only a minute left on the clock to give Ireland the most dramatic of victories and win the Triple Crown to boot.
An iconic try in Twickenham! 😍

Gordon D'Arcy & Andy Goode on Ireland's dramatic England win in 2006
It was a miraculous victory, with drama rarely in short supply on the occasions that Ireland do win at Twickenham. Gordon D'Arcy spoke to Balls on The Takeaway with Chicago Town about that game and the feeling of elation after the final whistle.
It hasn't been the worst place for me to play in, I have been involved in three out of the last four Irish wins in Twickenham.
Even when we win and we play well, it's always tooth and nail. In 2006 we had to score off-the-cuff, I mean Ronan O'Gara was pulling stuff out of his you know where with that chip over the defensive line after a midfield scrum. You couldn't make that stuff up.
You may think former England international Andy Goode wouldn't have such fond memories of that game but the enigmatic Goode is still able to take positives out of the game and he remembers the day well.
I don't think I ever beat Ireland when playing for England but I do remember that game in 2006. It was when Shane Horgan scored that try in the corner right at the death to win it for you guys which gave you the Triple Crown as well.
But that was immaterial to me because I kicked a penalty about five minutes before the final whistle to put England ahead 24-21 and Brian Moore was commentating and over the stadium tannoy they announced me as man of the match. It's the one and only time I ever won man of the match at international level and so the next five minutes I didn't care what happened.
I think Shane Horgan scored in the corner and I was still jumping around saying "I won man of the match". Yeah it was very disappointing to lose that game but it is the only time I won man of the match at that level and we still lost.
D'Arcy and Goode actually got quite familiar with the each other during the game by the looks of it.
Back in the days where that was just play on!
