After initial dread Saturday afternoon, Joe Schmidt and his coaching set-up seem cautiously optimistic that Robbie Henshaw can still play some role in this World Cup despite suffering a hamstring injury in training.

Scrum coach Greg Feek briefed media today at Ireland's training camp. He provided little information about the extent of Henshaw's injury but he also said that no replacement will be called in for the Athlone man. Will Addison had been moved out of the Ulster XV during a warm-up match Saturday evening as a precaution, but for the moment, Addison will remain in Belfast. We're not sure if Schmidt's approach would be different were this World Cup in Europe,  but Ireland have quite a lot of depth at centre.

Feek confirmed that Henshaw is 'unlikely' to play a role on Saturday against Scotland. He said the results of a scan on Henshaw's hamstring were 'reasonably positive.'

Feek also said that Keith Earls remains a doubt for Saturday's game as he attempts to rehab from the injury he suffered against Wales in Ireland's final Rugby World Cup warm-up.
