Ireland U20s are within touching distance of only their second ever World Rugby U20 semi-final. Nigel Carolan's men recorded a historic victory over New Zealand Manchester yesterday, when a number of players stood out.
One such star is Munster's prospect Bill Johnston. The outhalf was injured during the Six Nations, and his influence has been huge on Ireland, as they beat both the grand slam champions and the world champions in a few days.
But Johnston's time with Ireland this year is over. Johnston suffered a dislocated shoulder just before half-time, and has been ruled out for the rest of the tournament.
He'll be replaced by Newcastle's Brett Connon - who was extremely unlucky to miss out in the first place. Connon will be best used at fullback, playing as a second distributor to get the most out of Ireland's backs. Johnny McPhillips will be the de facto first choice outhalf.
Johnston still has a year of eligibility for Ireland U20s next year, but he's been so good in the two games that we might see Munster hold him back for senior duties next season instead.
