Match Preview
Ireland sit in third place in the Six Nations table after they lost 30-24 in Paris against France. It was a disappointing defeat for Ireland but this game at home to Italy is the perfect opportunity for Ireland to revive the campaign. The triple crown and the Championship are still to play for so a win here is still crucial.
Italy have had a rough start to the Six Nations. They followed up getting thrashed 37-10 against France in Round 1 by getting pummelled 33-0 by England in Rome. They haven't done much to silent the critics advocating for them to be kicked out of the Six Nations and after the rumours of South Africa joining last week, the prospect of Italy being booted out of the tournament is bigger than ever.
On Friday, Andy Farrell revealed a hugely exciting 23 to take on Italy. Michael Lowry will earn his first Ireland cap and start at fullback, with Joey Carbery keeping his spot in the XV and Peter O'Mahony captaining the side.
