Ireland kick off the 2022 Six Nations at the Aviva Stadium as they take on Wales this weekend. After a very successful November 2021 Andy Farrell and co will be looking to continue on with that momentum. This side is very capable of winning the Six Nations and possibly a Grand Slam. Wales though are never an easy task no matter what state the game is in the nation. Here's how to watch Ireland v Wales and a match preview.
How to watch Ireland v Wales
Ireland host Wales at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday 5th February and kick off is at 2:15pm.
The match is live on RTÉ 2 from 1pm.
The match is also live on ITV 1 from 1:30pm.
Match Preview
Andy Farrell has a fully fit squad ahead of the opener. Iain Henderson, Joey Carbery, Keith Earls, Josh van der Flier, James Ryan and Tadhg Furlong have all returned to full training out in Portugal.
Wales on the other hand have had their preparation for the Six Nations heavily disrupted by injuries. Wayne Pivac lost around 680 caps worth of players as Justin Tipuric, George North and Alun Wyn Jones among many more are all out of the Six Nations with injuries.
This has left Dan Biggar to take up the baton as captain for this year's championship. The Welsh club scene has also been a shambles this season leaving many to rule out the 2021 champions' chances of retaining their title. They still do have stars like Josh Adams, Louis Rees-Zammit and Jonathan Davies in the backline who could pose Ireland a huge problem.
Andy Farrell and Johnny Sexton have made sure not to underestimate Wales ahead of the match. Wales always perform at the Six Nations and rarely have a poor showing. With Ireland's recent form as well this has the ability to be a cracker of a match to start the 2022 Six Nations.
