You have to wonder about the merit of a third/fourth place playoff in major international tournaments. Neither South Africa or whoever loses Sunday's semi-final between Australia and Argentina will go into the game with any considerable amount of enthusiasm. It would seem to mainly exist as a bonus game for broadcasters.
After the Springboks' tight loss to the All Blacks on Saturday evening, coach Heyneke Meyer expressed his antipathy towards the fixture with a strange analogy.
Meyer on prospect of third-place play-off: "It doesn't mean anything for me. It's like kissing your sister." #RSA #RWC2015

That's not strictly true. There are some people who like that (it's a weird world) while no one enjoys a third/fourth place playoff.
