Connacht Rugby had yet another narrow loss last night away to the Pro 12 champions Glasgow. On paper, getting a losing bonus point against the league champions when there was a stage that they were down by 24 points looks impressive, but Connacht will be disappointed with the result.
After having two tries disallowed in the first half, the westerners turned at half-time down by 24 points to six.
Things got even worse just three minutes into the second half when they conceded possibly the most unfortunate comical try of all time.
John Cooney was attempting to box-kick directly from a line-out on the rain-sodden Glasgow pitch:
Oh dear, oh dear.
What can you even say to that?
Credit to Cooney, the young scrumhalf was able to start the Connacht come back with a try before he was replaced by Kieran Marmion.
Two more tries after that meant that Connacht were able to drag themselves back into the game, but ran out of time and suffered an agonising loss by 33-32.
Before Cooney gets any blame, the damage was done in the first half, and he's the unfortunate victim of a freak moment that provides us with hilarity.
