Ah the French, notorious for their temperament, their food and their riotous hilarity,
The French rugby bible that is Midi Olympique have this week made the horrendous mistake of mixing up their calendar and going to print with their April Fools Day story either six months early or six months late.
Nonetheless, here it is. Joe Schmidt has jumped to the top of the queue to replace Stuart Lancaster if/when he is removed from his position as England head coach. Excuse us while we simultaneously laugh at this obvious wind-up and throw up at the mere thought of it.

According to Midi;
While many names have circulated concerning the succession of Stuart Lancaster as head of the England national team, it seems that the current Irish coach Joe Schmidt is a strong contender.
Oh the horror. However, in reality, it would certainly make sense. If Lancaster is to depart, the RFU would want the best man for the job. All signs point to Schmidt in that regard. That obviously doesn't include the reality that he would surely laugh them out of the room if it was ever to come to that.
We won't worry too much, we have a World Cup quarter final to think about after all.
