On Saturday France won their first Six Nations title in 12 years in style as they beat England in Le Crunch to secure the Grand Slam and become arguably the best team in world rugby. It's fair to say they celebrated in style as well.
One of the most interesting rumours to come out of the celebrations is the talk of France losing the Six Nations trophy in the Seine.
After leaving Stade des Frances, the team celebrated on a barge on the Seine where there was about 500 people on board, according to L'Equipe. Speaking to Canal Rugby Club on Canal+ last night, Clermont Auvergne and France winger Damian Penaud described the night he had with the trophy.
The trophy had a great night. I didn't get it all evening, but I know it ended up in the Seine at 6 o'clock in the morning
This where the rumour started. On the same show Bordeaux and France rugby second row Cameron Woki was quick to rule himself out as a potential suspect.
I didn't even know. Apart from me in the locker room, I no longer had the trophy. You are teaching me something
French attack coach Laurent Labit also added that "It is true that we did not see him today (yesterday), it is worrying."
Romain Ntamack even claimed that Baptiste Couilloud dove into the river to save the trophy.
However, we regret to inform you that journalist with AFP Nicholas McAnally reported this morning that the trophy was not actually lost, and was in the company of French coach Raphael Ibanez.
Non, les Bleus n’ont pas perdu le trophée du Tournoi des six nations. Il est actuellement entre les mains de Raphaël Ibanez; Antoine Dupont l’avait même en soirée samedi #AFP

To translate: "No, the Blues did not lose the Six Nations Tournament trophy. It is currently in the hands of Raphaël Ibanez; Antoine Dupont even had it in the evening on Saturday."
We hate to be killjoys but it appears this potentially great story is fiction.
