Leinster and Argentinian legend Felipe Contepomi joined Denis Hickie and Emmett Byrne as a guest on the first episode of our new rugby podcast 'In From The Side' for a great chat about the World Cup and what we can expect over the coming weeks.
Contepomi has had his ear to the ground and he is very clear about who Argentina would like to play against should they make it to the quarter-final. He told the lads:
France every time. Every time, France.
First of all for these guys, they've already beaten France back in November, so you have that inside yourself that you really know you can beat them.
Secondly, Argentina and France have a history and in the last ten years we won more games than we've lost, and thirdly, in my opinion and I think for everyone too, we all know that Ireland is the best team in Europe. So obviously you don't want to play the best.
We're going to have to hope that The Pumas will be left disappointed. However even if we do succeed in topping the group, Contepomi still expects his home country to perform well 'If we have to play them [Ireland] it will be a tough game but Ireland could be surprised by Argentina.'
You can listen to the whole podcast below, with the Contepomi interview starting at 22 minutes in.
