Ireland breezed into today's Six Nations game at Twickenham with two wins from two matches and there was a sense of optimism that Andy Farrell might be able to pull a stroke on England today.
But actually it was the opposite. We were shellacked, mauled, destroyed, flattened, embarrassed and downright humiliated in the first half. We all need a scapegoat during beatings like this, and for most people, Bono was to blame.
Bono of course visited the Ireland camp this week and served Johnny Sexton soup.
Sexton's bad moments - flitting about with the ball to set up George Ford's try, shanking a penalty, a few other poor kicks - especially stood out. Perhaps Bono put something in his soup.
Can we keep Bono away from Sexton please. Obviously put the hex on him #ENGvIRE https://t.co/3XNJlHOl3s

It took Bono to unite the country.

We were screwed the second Bono attempted the splits... pic.twitter.com/Ra6uA3qV72

Well it’s fair to say Bono is not gonna get to many calls from teams for motivational talks in the near future #IrevEng #Rugby

This is what happens when you let Bono get involved. #SixNations #ENGvIRE

Hey Bono, how many tries will Ireland concede in the first half? #ENGvIRE pic.twitter.com/omkAkS9d6R
