The Champions Cup could be coming to Mayo next season.
Connacht CEO Willie Ruane confirmed that the province was looking into the possibility of bringing at least one European game to McHale Park as they attempt to expand across the province.
Since Lam arrived, Connacht have been determined to bring their product to each of the five counties in Connacht - taking their training sesssions, and pre-season games to the likes of Sligo RFC, Creggs RFC in Roscommon, and Buccaneers RFC in Athlone to name a few.
This move would be the first to take place in within a season however, and Ruane admits it would be something they would be looking, especially with the looming World Cup bid.
Quite possibly, yeah. It would be foolish to rule anything out. If something makes sense, we'll look at it.
You can be pretty sure that there aren't too many stones that we haven't turned over to try and establish what might be feasible or not.
One big obstacle would be that the GAA congress would need to discuss the proposal at Congress next February - which would mean that it would be too late to incorporate for the upcoming season - unless Connacht get into the knockout stages of European competition.
