Following their historic victory over South Africa last night, footage as emerged of the squad performing the iconic song Zombie in the dressing room.
In the first ever rugby game in Páirc Uí Chaoimh, Munster produced an incredible performance in front of an electric crowd to earn a well-deserved 28-14 victory over a strong South Africa XV.
Tries from Shane Daly, Simon Zebo, Diarmuid Barron and Mike Haley helped Munster to a badly needed win to boost their confidence in what has been a very disappointing season.
While South Africa put huge pressure on them in the second half, an inspiring performance from a young Munster team guided them to victory, as they now have wins over the big three southern hemisphere teams.
The result aside, this game showed why Cork’s GAA stadium has to host further Munster games in the future. It was an iconic atmosphere that added to the significance of the result, with the Cranberries classic song ‘Zombies’ sang in the crowd during various moments of the game.
As the celebrations flowed after the game, footage has now emerged of the Munster team perform their own rendition of the song, with an accordion adding a new sound to the iconic song.
Scenes that were seen in last night’s victory, combined with Zombie sang across the stadium, make a very good argument to host further big Munster games in Cork.
The stadium has the capacity and atmosphere, as proved last night, to make some more historic and iconic memories for another team in red.
The celebrations didn’t stop there for Graham Rowntree’s side, as they also sang ‘The Fields of Athenry’, as they likely celebrated long into the night.
While they Munster fans and team will have enjoyed last night, they will need to build on from this moment and get some badly needed points on the board after the international break.
