Eddie Jones' 2023 Rugby World Cup campaign as Australia head coach has been an unmitigated and unanimous disaster in every sense.

After his predescesor, Dave Rennie, came close to beating the likes of Ireland, France, and the All Blacks, before being promptly done away with, soon after Jones came on the market.

Having done away with a handful of Australia's most experienced campaigners, Jones has gone on to lead them to a historic loss to Fiji, and a 40-6 drubbing from Wales, which many have described as the worst Wallabies performance in a lifetime.

Despite these results, Jones stated in a press conference today that he is  "comfortable with the way we've gone about this campaign".

He did, however, mention one major he regret he has from the campaign, that involves the injuries sustained by captain Will Skelton and prop Taniela Tupou.

"The biggest loss we had in this tournament was losing Taniela and Will in one session and I blame myself for that. Just didn’t get it right, the session,” Jones said.

"So yeah, I would have changed that definitely. It’s just, you never know with injuries, but could we have done it a little bit differently? I keep thinking about that, to minimise the risk of injury,

"And there’s just an order of training and the way you train. I’ll hold my hand up, mate."

Of the poor decisions Jones has got wrong during his tenure, these two injuries, which may have happened anyway, would certainly not have done much to change public perception of his tournament.
