Danny Cipriani has come out and made an outrageous statement regarding the English and Australian teams. He claimed that:
Not one of the Australian team would get into that England team right now.
England head into the match knowing that without a victory their tournament hopes are over.
Cirpriani, who was omitted from Lancaster's final World Cup squad, has backed the hosts to triumph at Twickenham. Writing for his blog on Paddy Power he said that:
England’s players know what they can do and they only just touched the tip of the iceberg against Wales.
They didn’t quite put the nail in the coffin, but if it all clicks together on Saturday, Australia won’t have an answer.
He outlines how both teams will be fired up by the occasion but when it comes down to it, head to head, England are too strong. He expanded further on his thinking saying that:
England’s defensive structure combined with the attacking weapons they have at their disposal make it hard to see past an England win.
Having an unflinching belief in this English team is one thing but to argue that none of the Australian starting team would get into the English starting team is a bit ludicrous and reeks of homerism ... If that's even a word. Who cares? I'm making it a word!
