It is an Irish showdown for the ages in the United Rugby Championship as two provinces clash. History will be made as Munster and Connacht face-off in MacHale Park, Mayo's GAA pitch, for the first time. Both teams suffered away losses last time out, so the return back to Ireland will not only be welcome, but will have them looking for some much needed points to recover. Last week, both sides fell to narrow three-point margins against Ospreys and Glasgow Warriors respectively, but a win here is vital for both teams as the season begins to wrap up soon. Victory will catapult the home side into the top half of the table, while Munster will be looking to contend for those top spots once again.

These two last met in the first round of this season and it was a close one. Munster snatched the victory with a scoreline of 35-33.

Connacht announced their team at noon time on Friday. Cian Prendergast leads the line at blindside flanker, as Finlay Bealham, Bundee Aki, and Mack Hansen also return from international duty. All four slot directly into the starting XV making for a formidable Connacht side.

Captain Tadhg Beirne enters the team alongside fellow internationals Jack Crowley, Calvin Nash, and Conor Murray; the latter sits on the bench. Craig Casey's much anticipated return from injury sees him start for the first time in 2o25. Oli Jager, Jean Kleyn, and Niall Scannell also make their way back into the squad.
